Planning a Corporate Event in SF's SoMa? Here's How a Craft Workshop Actually Works

If you're an event planner or an HR lead trying to organize something memorable in San Francisco SoMA, you've probably hit the usual blockers: venues that require long lead times, vendors with confusing pricing, activities that sound good in theory and disappoint in practice.
Here's what actually happens when you book a corporate craft workshop with Craft for Team at our South of Market/SoMA studio.
Step 1: Choose your workshop
The SoMa studio runs five workshops: Rug Tufting, Chunky Blanket Making, Candle Making, Mosaic Lamp, and Moss Wall Art. Each has a different duration, a different energy, and a different takeaway.
If you're not sure which one fits your group, that's fine — tell us your headcount, how much time you have, and what kind of event it is (team bonding, client entertainment, all-hands celebration, etc.). We'll steer you toward the right fit.
Step 2: Book — confirmation usually within 24 hours
No six-week lead time. No complex vendor forms. We accommodate groups from 10 to 1,000, and most bookings are confirmed within 24 hours of inquiry.
For very large groups or events with specific timing requirements, reach out directly and we'll work through the details.
Step 3: Show up ready to participate — nothing else needed
Your team doesn't need to bring anything. Craft for Team provides:
All workshop materials (yarn, wax, tiles, moss, fragrance oils, glass — everything)
Instructor-led facilitation from start to finish
Pre-set stations when your group arrives
Full cleanup after the session
The only thing your team needs to bring is themselves.
Step 4: The session itself
For 30 minutes to 2.5 hours (depending on workshop), your group makes things. Real things. The instructor walks everyone through the process, answers questions, and keeps the session paced well.
What actually happens socially during this time tends to be the point. When people are working on something with their hands, they talk differently. The office hierarchy softens. People who don't usually interact find a reason to. The workshop becomes a context for connection that didn't exist before.
Step 5: Everyone takes their work home
No participation ribbons. Every person in the room leaves with something they made — a candle, a blanket, a rug, a lamp, a moss panel. That object sits in their home or on their desk for weeks or months, carrying the memory of the event.
Common questions from SoMa corporate clients
Do participants need experience?
Zero experience required for any workshop. Beginner-friendly instruction is built into every session.
What if we have attendees who don't want to craft?
Observers are always welcome. Some people prefer to watch for the first few minutes and join when they're ready — that's completely fine.
Can we add food or drinks?
Talk to us when you book. We can walk through what works with our space and setup.
What's the cancellation window?
We'll discuss this when you book based on your group size and session type.
The bottom line
A craft workshop at Craft for Team’s SoMa studio is the kind of corporate event people genuinely look forward to. It skips the forced fun, encourages real engagement, and leaves every participant with something they’ve created themselves.
